Lobelia cardinalis

Cardinal flower showers us with one of the brightest reds in nature, making it a true firecracker in a wet area in the oak bed. Happy New Year!

    • I got my cardinal flower from Lynn Phillips, an FGNS member, who lives in Siloam. She had collected them from her woods, which includes several acres along the Illinois river. She and I did a plant rescue when her neighbor began cutting a road thru the area. We were able to save quite a few. This plant came from Lynn’s yard. I haven’t grown it from seed. Sorry. Lynn
