These hellebores, H. purpurascens, are the first to bloom every year. They are not

The clear pinks on this blossom are unlike any of my other hellebores.

evergreen as many hellebores are. The other photo is the first bloom of this hellebore. I really like the two-tone pink blossoms.

  1. Lovely hellebores, I particularly like the second one with darker petal reverses. The first one looks like a really profuse bloomer, mine do not look so happy at all…

    • The pink hellebore was a surprise. It was part of a bunch that were planted by a landscaper. I bought the maroon one from Van Burgundian. It is a species, Helleborus purpurascens. It always blooms a lot.

  2. your hellebores are gorgeous! those people who don’t know you and your green thumb should be warned that you could make a stick burst into bloom. 🙂

    • Hi Carolyn. Hellebores are very rewarding and when they are happy they seed around giving you more to love or some to share. I recommend buying flowering plants, if you can. They take a long time to bloom from small plants.
